Tremendous Hope: One-Year-Old Mofe Receives N1.5 Million Lifeline For Open-Heart Surgery
In a heartwarming turn of events, one-year-old Mofeoluwa Ochoche-Samuel, diagnosed with a heart defect at just six months old, has been granted a beacon of hope with a generous N1.5 million cheque…..CONTINUE READING
The initiative, spearheaded by the Gifting Volunteer Network (GVN), aims to kickstart the necessary treatment for the little one.
Mr. David Tamarau-Kuro, the Founder of GVN, shared the inspiring story with journalists during the cheque presentation in Lagos. He revealed that the estimated cost for Mofe’s life-saving surgery amounts to around N7 million. However, recognizing the urgency of the situation, the GVN decided to commence treatment with the funds raised thus far.
Tamarau-Kuro expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their overwhelming support since the fundraising efforts began late last year. The case came to the attention of GVN after Mofe’s mother, Folakemi Ogunsusi, exhausted all avenues for financial assistance.
He stated, “We are here today to present a cheque of N1.5 million to the mother so they can commence treatment immediately. The surgery would cost about N7 million, but we need to present this now, then we will know what the next step to take subsequently as the treatment commenced.”
Folakemi Ogunsusi, visibly moved by the outpouring of support, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to her child’s treatment. Despite facing numerous obstacles in her quest for help, she remained resilient until GVN intervened.
“It was not easy. I have been everywhere looking for money for my child’s treatment. I have reached out to some NGOs for help until GVN came to my rescue. I don’t know what to say now but I want to say God bless everybody,” she expressed.
While the journey ahead remains challenging with an estimated total cost of N7 million for the surgery and treatment, the N1.5 million lifeline has paved the way for Mofe’s immediate care. Ogunsusi reassured everyone that she would be transparent and accountable for every contribution received.
In this tale of compassion and community support, Mofe’s tiny heart resonates with tremendous hope, showcasing the profound impact collective kindness can have on a family’s struggle against adversity. The journey towards healing has just begun, and the unity displayed in Mofe’s story becomes a testament to the extraordinary power of humanity’s shared empathy.
