The collapsed bridge, the sole link between Ibadan and Iwo in Osun State, left motorists and residents stranded, prompting urgent appeals to Governor Seyi Makinde for intervention. With the alternative route submerged by floodwaters, hundreds of commuters faced significant delays and disruptions to their travel plans.

Traffic congestion compounded the situation, with road users enduring long hours of waiting just to access the limited remaining passage. Frustration mounted among motorists and locals, who implored Governor Makinde to expedite efforts in addressing the road’s precarious condition.

Kazeem Alabi, a student at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, lamented, “I can only appeal to the governor to help us expedite the completion of the road. The flooded alternative bridge has rendered it impassable, leaving us stranded for almost an hour.”

Echoing similar sentiments, commercial driver Abasi Olayemi emphasized the urgent need for swift action, recalling past ordeals and urging both the governor and contractors to prioritize completing the road promptly.

Lekan Anjorin, a resident affected by the disruption, expressed frustration at missing a crucial business trip due to the unforeseen circumstances, underscoring the profound impact of the collapsed bridge on daily activities.

Amidst the chaos, the state government’s commitment to reconstructing the Ibadan-Iwo Road offered a glimmer of hope. With assurances from contractors of timely completion, residents remain hopeful for swift resolution to alleviate their plight in the aftermath of the bridge collapse.
