Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Benedict Inaede, a member of the Obidient Movement from Edo State.

According to Ireporter Online, Obi described Inaede’s passing as a painful and irreplaceable loss, extending heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, members of the Obidient Movement, and everyone affected by the tragedy.

In a message shared on his account on Friday, Obi said he had received the news of Inaede’s death with profound sadness and offered prayers for the repose of his soul.

“On behalf of my family and the Obidient Movement family, I sincerely console his immediate family and the entire Obidient family. His death is a painful and irreplaceable loss to us all,” Obi stated.

He prayed that God would grant the late Inaede eternal rest and give his family and supporters the strength to bear the loss, urging members of the movement to continue remembering the bereaved family in their prayers.

Meanwhile, the Presidency has responded to Obi’s recent criticism of the Federal Government’s decision to provide improved accommodation for judges, rejecting suggestions that the initiative could compromise the independence of the judiciary.

Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Digital and New Media, O’tega Ogra, challenged Obi’s position in a post on his account, recalling that the former Anambra governor had built and inaugurated judges’ quarters in 2013 while in office and had pledged to construct more.

Ogra argued that providing decent living and working conditions for judicial officers strengthens, rather than weakens, the justice system, maintaining that inadequate welfare leaves judges vulnerable to undue influence, pressure, and manipulation by individuals seeking to undermine the rule of law.
