The Bauchi State House of Assembly has been thrown into mourning following the death of the member representing Sakwa Constituency, Hon. Mohammad Wanzam.

His passing was officially announced on Sunday by the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, through a statement issued by his media aide. According to the statement, Wanzam died on Sunday morning while serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.

The Speaker paid tribute to the deceased lawmaker, describing him as a dedicated and hardworking public servant who remained committed to the development of his constituency and the state throughout his tenure. He offered prayers for the repose of Wanzam’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

Details of the burial arrangements were also disclosed, with funeral prayers scheduled to take place later on Sunday at the Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque in Bauchi.

In a condolence message, the Speaker expressed deep sorrow over the loss, noting that the Assembly and the people of Sakwa Constituency had lost a valuable representative whose contributions would be remembered.

Meanwhile, Bauchi State has also been struck by another loss following the death of former Deputy Governor Audu Sule Katagum at the age of 69.

Katagum, who served as deputy governor between 2018 and 2019 during the administration of former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday. News of his passing was confirmed by a media aide to the former governor.

The deaths of both prominent figures have sparked an outpouring of condolences from political associates, supporters, and residents across the state.
