The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) disciplinary committee declared that Osayi-Samuel’s response to the pitch invasion did not breach disciplinary rules, categorizing his actions as self-defense. The incident occurred following Fenerbahçe’s 3-2 away victory over Trabzonspor, where jubilant fans stormed the pitch and initiated altercations with the players.

Reports indicate that Osayi-Samuel punched one of the pitch invaders in response to an attempted attack, which was perceived as an act of self-defense. Consequently, the TFF cleared him of any disciplinary measures following a thorough review.

However, Osayi-Samuel’s teammates, Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde and goalkeeper Irfan Can Egribayat, faced consequences for their roles in the incident. Oosterwolde received a game ban and a fine for kicking a pitch invader who posed no imminent threat, while Egribayat was also fined.

Trabzonspor, the host team during the match, bore the brunt of the TFF’s disciplinary measures. The club was sanctioned to play six home games behind closed doors and fined a substantial amount totaling 3.1 million Turkish lira for failing to prevent the pitch invasion and subsequent altercations.

Despite the turbulent events on the field, Osayi-Samuel’s exoneration highlights the distinction made by the TFF between self-defense and unwarranted aggression in the context of sporting confrontations.
