Noise Is Not What We Need But Actions: Reactions Trail Edo’s Electoral Campaign

By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

As the gubernatorial race in Edo State heats up, the citizens are increasingly expressing their frustration with empty promises and grandiose rhetoric. What Edo needs now is not more noise but tangible actions. The focus is shifting to the candidates who can deliver real progress and development, and Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands out as the man for the job.

Senator Okpebholo’s track record in the National Assembly is a testament to his commitment to the people. He has consistently demonstrated a proactive approach to governance, pushing forward legislation that directly benefits his constituents and addresses the core issues facing Edo State. His dedication to public service is evident in his numerous philanthropic endeavors, where he has shown a deep empathy for the downtrodden and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of the common man.

Unlike the slick, technocratic narrative spun by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, Senator Okpebholo’s approach is grounded in reality and action. Ighodalo, much like the current governor Godwin Obaseki, has been criticized for using fine words and lofty promises to bamboozle the people, offering little in the way of real, substantial progress. The citizens of Edo are weary of this deceptive rhetoric and are calling for a leader who can truly deliver.

Senator Okpebholo’s activities in the National Assembly demonstrate that he keeps his promises. He has sponsored and supported various bills for the benefit of Nigerians. His actions have resulted in the reconstruction of vital roadways like as the Benin Lokoja Abuja route, among others.

Furthermore, Senator Okpebholo’s philanthropic activities underscore his empathy and connection with the people. He has consistently provided support for the less privileged, offering scholarships to indigent students, setting up empowerment programs for women and youths, and providing essential supplies to communities in need. This level of personal commitment to the welfare of the people is what sets him apart from his opponents.

In contrast, Asue Ighodalo’s campaign has been marked by grand speeches and high-sounding promises, reminiscent of the Obaseki administration’s approach. The people of Edo have grown skeptical of such narratives, having experienced firsthand the gap between promise and delivery. The technocratic approach touted by Ighodalo may sound impressive, but it lacks the tangible results that Senator Okpebholo has consistently delivered.

The choice for Edo State in the upcoming election is clear. The state needs a leader who understands the real issues and is committed to taking decisive action to address them. Senator Monday Okpebholo embodies this leadership. His proven track record, empathy for the people, and dedication to tangible progress make him the ideal candidate to take Edo to the next level.

As the electoral campaign progresses, it is crucial for the citizens of Edo to look beyond the noise and rhetoric and focus on the candidates’ actual performance and commitment to the people. Senator Okpebholo has shown that he not only listens to the people’s concerns but also takes concrete steps to address them. His vision for Edo State is one of development, prosperity, and inclusivity, ensuring that no one is left behind.

In conclusion, as reactions continue to trail Edo’s electoral campaign, the message is clear: Edo needs actions, not noise. Senator Monday Okpebholo’s proven ability to deliver real progress and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people make him the leader that Edo needs to usher in a new era of development and prosperity.
