Breaking: Kalu Condemns Attack On Military Checkpoint, Urges Aba Residents To Reject Violence
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu condemned the attack on the checkpoint by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
He described the killing of the military personnel performing their lawful duty as unwarranted, outrageous, unjust, cruel, and absolutely condemnable.
Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State, emphasized that the enterprising and technically skilled people of Aba should not be misled into believing that closing their businesses and staying at home is in their best interest.
He reminded the residents that Aba is the commercial nerve center of the South East, hosting people from all walks of life. Kalu urged them to maintain their known hospitality and reject violence, which is alien to the culture of the Ndi Igbo.
He also noted that while efforts are ongoing to address the rising insecurity and restore peace in the South East through a non-kinetic approach led by Peace In South East (PISE-P), engaging in actions that could undermine these efforts is unnecessary.
The Deputy Speaker appealed to the people to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, which has shown significant interest in the development of the South East. He cautioned that failing to do so could negatively impact the region’s fortunes.
