Condolence Visits Won’t End Insecurity” – Oshiomhole Fires At Atiku

Former Edo State Governor and Senator Adams Oshiomhole has strongly criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his planned condolence visits to Plateau and Benue states amid the worsening security situation in Nigeria.

According to Ireporter Online, Oshiomhole, while speaking on The Mic On Podcast on Sunday, faulted Atiku’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu, particularly the claim that the President has not shown enough sensitivity to the country’s security challenges.

The former governor argued that symbolic condolence visits are insufficient to address the long-standing insecurity confronting the nation, questioning whether such gestures could provide lasting solutions to the crisis.

Oshiomhole also traced the roots of Nigeria’s security problems to the administration in which Atiku served as Vice President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He maintained that the insecurity currently affecting the country did not originate under the Tinubu administration.

The lawmaker further asserted that Atiku and other opposition presidential hopefuls seeking to challenge Tinubu’s re-election have failed to present alternative strategies capable of resolving the persistent security concerns.

Speaking on the issue, Oshiomhole questioned the effectiveness of condolence visits as a response to insecurity, insisting that Nigerians deserve practical solutions rather than symbolic appearances. He also dismissed criticisms suggesting that President Tinubu’s travels indicate a lack of concern, arguing that such claims do not address the fundamental causes of the nation’s security challenges.
