Oshiomhole Fires At Peter Obi: “Don’t Take Him By His Words

Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has questioned the credibility of the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, arguing that the former Anambra State governor has a history of abandoning political platforms for personal advantage.

According to reports, Oshiomhole made the remarks during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast aired on Sunday, where he criticized Obi’s political decisions and commitment to the parties he has represented over the years.

The lawmaker alleged that Obi failed to honour his pledge to remain in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) after the party, under the leadership of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, supported his emergence as governor of Anambra State.

Oshiomhole further claimed that Obi’s subsequent political moves reflected a pattern of seeking easier routes to electoral success rather than building and strengthening party structures. He noted that after pursuing a vice-presidential ambition on another platform without success, Obi allegedly left instead of remaining to reorganize and prepare for future contests.

He also referenced Obi’s time in the Labour Party, stating that the party handed him its presidential ticket without a competitive primary process and that, despite securing millions of votes in the election, he did not stay to resolve the party’s internal challenges or consolidate its gains.

According to Oshiomhole, Obi later sought to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but after discussions about conducting primary elections, he opted to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress instead. The senator maintained that these actions demonstrate a reluctance to participate in competitive internal party processes, insisting that Obi prefers joining platforms where opportunities are already established rather than contributing to their growth.

The former governor concluded that Obi’s political trajectory raises questions about his consistency and reliability, arguing that his record does not inspire confidence in his commitments.
