In a heartwarming display of empathy and leadership, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All-Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, made headlines and stirred social media with his recent acts of kindness.

On Thursday, Senator Okpebholo visited the Jattu Market in Etsako West Local Government Area, where a devastating rainstorm claimed many lives and left others injured and hospitalized. Demonstrating his commitment to the community, Okpebholo provided substantial financial aid to the victims, ensuring they received the necessary support for their recovery.

On his way back to Benin, Okpebholo encountered a protest by students of Ambrose Alli University. The students were rallying to save their fellow student, Iyekeoretin Etinosa Raymond, who is battling chronic kidney disease (Stage 5) and urgently requires a transplant.

In a moment captured on video and shared widely, Okpebholo left his vehicle to meet the protesting youths and the ailing student. In an act of immediate compassion, he transferred ₦7 million to Raymond’s preferred account, ensuring the student could receive the life-saving procedure. The students, moved by his humility and generosity, hailed him as the ‘Incoming Governor’ in the viral footage.

Social media has been abuzz with reactions. One user, Efe Oghenekaro, tweeted, “Okpebholo is the compassionate governor Edo needs! His actions speak louder than words”. Another user identified as Osaretin Igbinedion claimed, “We need leaders like Okpebholo, who not only promise but deliver in times of need. He’s truly the people’s governor.”
