Labour Ministry Summons PASAN Leaders Amidst Explosive Fraud Allegations
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has called for a meeting with the leadership of the National Assembly chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) and certain concerned members amidst allegations of a ₦3 billion misappropriation scandal…….ConTINUE READING
A letter, signed by Amos Falonipe, Director/Registrar of Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations, officially invites PASAN leaders and affected members to meet tomorrow to discuss the accusations. The letter, titled “Re: Petition Against the Misappropriation of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, National Assembly Chapter and Threats of Suspension of Members,” was issued on behalf of the Labour Minister.
This follows recent claims by PASAN member Yusuf Abiola, who publicly accused the association’s executives of mishandling ₦3 billion and demanded an audited financial report from 2019 to date. Abiola, representing other concerned members, warned of petitioning relevant authorities if transparency demands were not met.
In response, PASAN’s National Assembly chapter chairman, Sunday Sabiyyi, along with Secretary David Ann Ebizimoh, denied the accusations, dismissing them as baseless and defamatory, urging the public to disregard what they termed “unfounded blackmail.” Despite this rebuttal, the Labour Ministry has formally summoned both parties to resolve the issue.
The invitation letter, dated October 25, 2024, was sent to the General Secretary of PASAN’s National Assembly chapter.
