Vandals Disrupt Abuja’s Power Supply, Attack Key TCN Transmission Towers

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed the incident, stating that engineers initially attempted to restore the line, but after unsuccessful attempts to re-energize it, they discovered the towers had been vandalized, with two spans of aluminium conductor stolen.

Although bulk power is still being supplied through an alternate line, TCN is working on sourcing replacement conductors to restore full service. This incident highlights a troubling increase in attacks on critical power infrastructure, disrupting the stability and development of Nigeria’s national grid. TCN is urging local communities and security forces to cooperate in combating this growing threat.
