Desperate Politicians Spreading Lies About Soludo’s Support For Kanu’s Release, Anambra Govt Reacts
The Anambra State Government has dismissed rumors alleging that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is against the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The state’s Commissioner for Information,…Desperate Politicians Spreading Lies About Soludo’s Support For Kanu’s Release, Anambra Govt Reacts
Law Mefor, condemned these allegations, labeling them as falsehoods spread by desperate politicians threatened by Soludo’s achievements.
Mefor clarified that, in fact, Governor Soludo has been working tirelessly for Kanu’s release, believing that it would foster peace in the Southeast region.
“It’s crucial to address the misinformation circulating about Governor Soludo’s supposed opposition to Nnamdi Kanu’s release,” Mefor stated. “These false claims have been spread by opposition figures who are clearly threatened by Soludo’s successful governance. The Governor has been actively working towards Kanu’s freedom to help restore peace and stability in the Southeast.”
He highlighted Soludo’s efforts, including a visit to Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility, where the Governor proposed offering him administrative bail and assured that he would remain available when needed.
Mefor further criticized the opposition’s role in spreading baseless, politically-motivated propaganda aimed at discrediting the Governor’s administration. He urged the public to look beyond these distractions and support the government’s efforts to address insecurity in the region.
The Commissioner also expressed concern over the hijacking of the Biafra agitation by criminals, who have turned it into a profitable criminal enterprise, engaging in kidnappings, robberies, and ritual killings. Mefor stressed that these actions undermine the legitimacy of the Biafra movement and pose significant threats to the region’s security and economic development.
“Governor Soludo is deeply worried about this hijacking of the Biafra agitation, which has resulted in increased violent crimes in the Southeast, including kidnappings and robberies. This has generated widespread fear and negatively impacted the region’s economic growth,” Mefor added.
