On Instagram, Teni honored her father’s memory as a hero and icon. She shared a heartfelt message, saying, “On this day, Nigeria stood still! My hero was taken from us. Keep resting gallant soldier, Apata!!! My father, an icon, philanthropist, one of a kind. Your legacy will live forever.”

Teju also took to Instagram, sharing painful memories surrounding their father’s untimely death, revealing how a two-week-old baby was used as bait in the tragic incident.

Reflecting on the lasting impact of his death on their family, Teju spoke of the emotional void left by the absence of any photographs with their father.

Teni’s sister, Niniola, offered comforting words to Teju, advising her to look into the mirror and see their father’s reflection in herself.

In her tribute, Teju expressed the pain of losing her father, saying, “30 years ago you were assassinated in your home in front of your wife and children. In front of your 2-week-old baby used as bait… I never got a chance to take a picture with you.

“But when I spoke to my older sister @officialniniola yesterday, she said, ‘Look in the mirror, every time you see yourself you see him.’ That one hit deep. Rest in peace Simeon Olaosebikan Apata.”
