Ronaldo expressed his lack of surprise over Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. missing out on the 2024 Ballon d’Or, despite his remarkable season. The Brazilian forward netted 25 goals and provided 12 assists in 40 appearances, playing a crucial role in Real Madrid’s Champions League, La Liga, and Supercopa de España triumphs. However, he lost the award to Manchester City’s midfield maestro, Rodri.

Speaking on the matter, Ronaldo stated, “He won the Champions League and scored goals. Vini Jr. deserved to win the Ballon d’Or, but I’m not surprised… it lacks credibility,” as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also reflected on his intense rivalry with Barcelona while playing for Real Madrid. Despite being a target of relentless boos and insults from fans at Camp Nou, Ronaldo admitted that he thrived in the hostile atmosphere.

“I loved playing in the Camp Nou. They booed me, they insulted me, and I loved it!” he said.

On his pursuit of 1,000 career goals, Ronaldo acknowledged the growing anticipation but downplayed his obsession with the milestone. Currently sitting at 923 goals in 1,261 matches, he remains the only player in football history to surpass 900 official goals.

While only 24 players have ever crossed the 500-goal mark in football’s 150-year history, just four—Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Luis Suárez, and Ronaldo—are still active.

The Al Nassr forward has been in sensational form this season, scoring 23 goals and providing four assists in 25 appearances. While fans eagerly await his 1,000th goal, Ronaldo admitted that the constant talk about the milestone has become tiring.

“If I could achieve it, it would be great… but I’m not obsessed with it. It’s getting a bit annoying to talk about,” he told Fabrizio Romano.
