Former Edo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent ruling by the governorship tribunal affirming Governor Monday Okpebholo’s victory. Ifaluyi-Isibor stated that the decision has left the people of Edo State in mourning, as it contradicts their expectations and aspirations.

Speaking to News Central on Thursday, Ifaluyi-Isibor, who also served as the Commissioner for Science and Technology under former Governor Godwin Obaseki, criticized the tribunal for allegedly failing to uphold constitutional values and the Electoral Act. He argued that the ruling did not reflect the will of the people, emphasizing that the lack of public jubilation following the judgment indicates widespread disappointment.

The former commissioner outlined three key points raised in court:

  1. Failure of INEC to Record Sensitive Election Material Details: Lack of prior recording of the quantity and serial number of sensitive election materials.

  2. Overvoting in Polling Units: Evidence of overvoting in multiple locations, supported by INEC-certified documents.

  3. Incorrect Collation Figures by INEC: Discrepancies in collation figures, with documentary proof presented in court.

Ifaluyi-Isibor expressed frustration that despite presenting certified evidence from INEC, the tribunal’s decision did not align with the evidence tendered, leading to feelings of betrayal and disillusionment among Edo residents.
