According to Ireporter Online, the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has granted approval for former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to access medical treatment while he remains in custody over an ongoing corruption trial.

Naija News reports that El-Rufai is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) alongside Joel Adoga on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering, conversion of funds, and handling proceeds of corruption. Both defendants have denied the allegations.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, defence counsel prayed the court to allow El-Rufai undergo treatment for dental and eye-related health issues at Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye-Q Hospital in Abuja.

Ruling on the application, Justice Rilwan Aikawa granted permission, directing that the anti-corruption agency escort the former governor to the approved medical facilities under strict security supervision whenever treatment is required, and ensure his immediate return to custody after each visit. The court further ordered that all movements must be closely monitored by the commission.

The ICPC, while acknowledging the ruling, assured the court it would comply fully while maintaining lawful custody of the defendant in line with existing bail conditions.

El-Rufai had earlier been granted bail in the sum of N200 million with two sureties, while his co-defendant was also granted administrative bail. The matter has been adjourned to May 7, 2026, for hearing on the application seeking a variation of the bail terms.
