According to Ireporter Online, Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has revealed the unexpected and playful inspiration behind the 2014 hit track “Dorobucci”, tracing its origin to a light-hearted moment during Tiwa Savage’s wedding in Dubai.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the Crea8torium podcast, the renowned producer explained that the idea was born when he attended the ceremony dressed in a suit and began introducing himself to guests with a fictional Italian-style name, “Don Dorobucci.”

He disclosed that the name quickly caught attention among guests, including Tiwa Savage, who questioned its origin, while others jokingly engaged with it throughout the event. Don Jazzy noted that the playful reaction encouraged him to keep the idea alive, saying he even told people he would turn the name into a song.

He said the phrase gained further momentum after he returned to Nigeria and posted a freestyle on Instagram, which unexpectedly sparked a viral dance challenge across social media.

“Then I did the freestyle on Instagram singing Dorobucci and people just started doing a challenge to it… when we came back to Nigeria, I saw a bunch of people doing the challenge and I just created a song from it,” he explained.

The momentum eventually led to the official release of “Dorobucci” under the Mavin Records label, featuring Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, D’Prince, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, and Di’Ja.

The track went on to become one of the most successful Afrobeats records of its era, dominating airwaves and remaining a favourite at parties and events years after its release.
