ADC Halts Presidential Primary Results Collation

The party disclosed that the collation process and declaration of the eventual winner would continue on Wednesday, with proceedings expected to resume by 8 p.m. at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

Results announced before the suspension showed former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar maintaining a strong lead over other contenders, including former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

Meanwhile, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen had earlier rejected the conduct of the primary, alleging that the exercise was marred by widespread irregularities and manipulation.

Reacting to the allegations, the ADC urged the aggrieved aspirants to channel their complaints through established party mechanisms and constitutional electoral procedures rather than making public accusations while the collation process was still ongoing.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi stated that there was currently no concrete evidence to support claims that the presidential primary had been manipulated in favour of Atiku.

Abdullahi further maintained that it would be premature to validate or dismiss the allegations since the collation of results had not yet been concluded.
