I Don’t Know Yet” — Ilechukwu Speaks On Rangers Exit After NPFL Triumph

According to reports, Ilechukwu guided Rangers to the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League title following a tense 2-1 victory against Ikorodu City F.C. in Lagos on Sunday. The result proved crucial as closest rivals Rivers United F.C. secured a 3-0 win over Katsina United F.C. in Port Harcourt, leaving Rangers to finish the season with 68 points, just one point ahead of Rivers United.

The triumph marked Ilechukwu’s second league title with Rangers International F.C. in three seasons and the club’s ninth NPFL crown, drawing them level with Enyimba F.C. as the most successful club in league history.

Shortly after sealing the championship, the coach travelled to London to join Eric Chelle and the Nigeria national football team ahead of their Unity Cup title defence.

Despite delivering another successful campaign, Ilechukwu admitted that his future at Rangers remains uncertain, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season. He explained that discussions regarding his next move would take place after his return from London, adding that he intends to reflect carefully on both the positives and challenges surrounding his current situation before making a final decision.

The Rangers boss also praised club executive Amobi Ezeaku for the support he received during his time at the club, noting that the working environment played a major role in his achievements with the Flying Antelopes.

Ilechukwu joined Rangers from Plateau United F.C. ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and quickly restored the club’s status as one of the leading forces in Nigerian football.
