Bob Manuel: I Don’t Regret Staying Off Social Media, Here’s Why

According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actor and former lawmaker Bob-Manuel Udokwu has explained why he has largely remained inactive on social media, saying he prefers to avoid online distractions and observe discussions from a distance.

The veteran actor disclosed that his decision was influenced by what he described as the growing irrelevance of many trending topics online, particularly in Nigeria, noting that such conversations often have little or no bearing on the everyday challenges faced by citizens despite attracting significant attention.

He further observed that social media platforms have increasingly become spaces dominated by trolling, insults, and unnecessary confrontations, which he said makes meaningful engagement difficult and mentally draining for many users.

Udokwu stated that, as a result, he chose to remain on the sidelines, quietly following conversations without actively participating in most discussions, as a way of maintaining his peace of mind while staying informed.

However, he hinted at a possible change in approach, noting that due to persistent demand from fans, he may begin to engage more actively online moving forward.

He was quoted as saying that social media in Nigeria has become overwhelming, with viral content often disconnected from real-life struggles, adding that he does not regret his decision to stay quiet while observing events unfold.
