According to Ireporter Online, the founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has stated that no General Overseer has the authority to hand over a church to his or her son, stressing that church leadership is not a family inheritance.

Naija News reports that Kumuyi made the clarification while addressing growing public speculation about who would succeed him as leader of the ministry. In a now-trending video, the cleric emphasized that the church belongs solely to Jesus Christ and not to any individual.

Kumuyi dismissed rumours suggesting he intended to pass leadership to any of his sons, noting that such assumptions were misplaced as the ministry does not belong to him.

“It’s the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, and nobody has the right to hand it over to his son,” he said, adding that those speculating had gone as far as searching for details about his children.

He further reiterated that the church is divinely owned, quoting scripture to stress that Jesus is the builder and owner of the church, not any human leader.

The cleric explained that leadership succession in the church must be determined by God’s will rather than familial ties, citing examples of early apostles who did not pass leadership to their children.

“I’m not about to hand over to any son. The will of the Lord be done in Jesus name,” Kumuyi added.
