Stop Pleading For Criminals, It Weakens Justice – Adejobi Warns Nigerians

According to Ireporter Online, the Deputy Commissioner of Operations in Delta State, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has cautioned Nigerians against exerting pressure on the police and other security agencies to release or pardon individuals suspected of criminal activities, describing such actions as harmful to the nation’s fight against crime.

Adejobi, a former spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, stated that any attempt to interfere in criminal investigations or influence the release of suspects undermines justice and weakens law enforcement efforts across the country.

He made the remarks in a post shared via his official account on Monday, where he maintained that individuals who advocate for the release or pardon of suspects should also be regarded as complicit in criminal activity.

The senior police officer stressed that he would not entertain appeals seeking leniency for persons accused of crimes, insisting that his position on law enforcement remains firm and uncompromising.

He further noted that efforts to pressure security agencies into disregarding due process would not succeed, adding that such interventions are both inappropriate and counterproductive.

Quoting his post, he said he would not respond to pleas on behalf of suspects, describing such actions as shameful and ineffective, while reaffirming his commitment to the rule of law.

Adejobi also warned that anyone who attempts to influence the police or security agencies to overlook criminal conduct contributes to the broader problem of insecurity in the country.

He called for collective resolve among citizens and security institutions to strengthen the fight against crime, stressing that only firm and united action can reduce social vices.

Reiterating his stance, he emphasized that justice must be allowed to take its full course without interference, insisting that those accused of wrongdoing should face the law accordingly.
