IK Osakioduwa Reveals Why He Didn’t Host 2026 AMVCA
IK Osakioduwa, popular media personality and long-time host of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), has spoken on his absence from the 12th edition of the ceremony, marking the first time he has not hosted the event since its inception in 2013.
According to Ireporter Online, Osakioduwa clarified during an appearance on The Morayo Show that his absence was not due to any disagreement with Africa Magic, but rather a matter of timing, personal conviction, and what he described as destiny.
He explained that he strongly believes in being at the right place at the right time, noting that he was not “destined” to host the 2026 edition of the awards. He also reaffirmed his longstanding relationship with the organisers, describing Africa Magic as his “first love” in television and stressing that there was no strain in their relationship.
Osakioduwa further revealed that his decision was influenced by personal principles, particularly his stance against endorsing alcohol and tobacco-related brands, which formed part of the sponsorship structure for the 12th edition of the AMVCA. He stated that these conditions made it difficult for him to fully participate and deliver effectively in that year’s event.
He said his values would not have aligned with the requirements of the edition, adding that he would not have been able to “serve properly” under those circumstances.
In his absence, organisers of the AMVCA 2026 edition announced Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha as hosts of the ceremony.
