Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe has alleged that the luxury car publicly presented to him by music star D’banj was never actually handed over, despite the widespread publicity surrounding the gesture.

According to Ireporter Online, the controversy emerged after a video surfaced online showing Carter Efe claiming that the vehicle showcased during a public event was not delivered to him as many fans had assumed.

The comedian alleged that he was later informed he would be required to pay ₦65 million before taking possession of the car, a condition he said left him stunned because he never requested a vehicle from anyone.

He maintained that the highly publicized gift was different from what was portrayed to the public and accused media personality Sunday Are of not being transparent during discussions over the issue. Carter Efe further claimed that the advice he received at the time was intended to discourage him from revealing what had allegedly transpired.

Describing the vehicle as an “audio” gift—a popular slang term implying a promise that exists only in words—the skitmaker insisted that he did not receive the car he was publicly awarded.

Speaking on the matter, Carter Efe said, “They didn’t give me any car. Sunday Are too was doing as if he was advising me whereas he was just cajoling me not to spoil their plan. They gave me a useless car. I didn’t beg you to give me car.

“D’banj whine me. He didn’t give me motor. That motor he gave me is audio motor. He told me to pay 65 million naira before he could give me the car. Me that E-money gift me money for free. If I swear for D’banj and Sunday Are, they might not see tomorrow.”
