According to Ireporter Online, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has called on party leaders to rein in their supporters and prevent internal actions that could damage the image of members within the party.

Dickson made the appeal on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja, where he expressed concern over rising criticisms and internal disagreements that he said were beginning to affect the party’s public perception. He stressed that the NDC would not tolerate any attempt to tarnish the reputation of its members, especially those who recently joined the platform.

He noted that the party had agreed to work collectively with all entrants to strengthen its structure ahead of future elections, adding that unity remained essential for electoral success. According to him, all stakeholders must remain focused on delivering a credible alternative government to Nigerians rather than engaging in actions that could undermine internal cohesion.

In another remark, Dickson stated that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was given full freedom to select his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, without any interference from the party leadership. He also claimed that the nomination was granted without any financial demands, emphasizing that the party had supported Obi’s emergence without collecting any payment.

Dickson further questioned what more some of Obi’s supporters, popularly known as the “Obidients,” expect from the party, insisting that the focus should now be on unity and preparation for the 2027 general elections. He urged members to put aside grievances and work together to secure victory at the polls.
