Your Legacy Lives Forever” – Nkechi Blessing Pays Tribute To Late Alex Ekubo

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has paid an emotional tribute to her late colleague, Alex Ekubo, as family, friends, and industry stars gathered for his service of songs held at The Monarch Event Centre on Wednesday.

According to Ireporter Online, the actress took to Instagram to celebrate the life of the late actor, describing him as much more than a friend. She referred to him as a brother, a beacon of light, and a constant source of joy, strength, and warmth whose presence brightened every gathering.

In her heartfelt message, Nkechi reflected on Ekubo’s compassionate nature, noting that his kindness and grace made everyone around him feel valued, appreciated, and loved. She praised him for the lasting memories he created and for always being dependable, describing him as the friend who never failed to show up and the brother who genuinely cared.

She expressed the difficulty of accepting a future without his laughter, wisdom, and vibrant personality, adding that while some people leave footprints, Ekubo left an unforgettable imprint on the hearts of those who knew him.

Despite her grief, the actress said she remained thankful for every conversation, shared moment, and cherished memory, noting that the depth of her pain reflected the immense love he inspired during his lifetime. She concluded by saying that although his earthly journey had ended, his legacy of friendship, kindness, and love would continue to live on in the lives of those he touched, adding that he would always be remembered and never forgotten.

The memorial service attracted a large gathering of Nollywood personalities, with guests dressed in white in accordance with the wishes of the Ekubo family. Among those in attendance were Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Chioma Akpotha, Ebele Okaro, Nancy Isime, Ruth Kadiri, Stan Nze, Blessing Obasi, Frederick Leonard, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, singer Chike, and Cubana Chief Priest.

The event featured worship sessions led by Peterson Okopi and Ebuka Songs, while Pastor Jerry Eze, Nathaniel Bassey, and Kaestrings also ministered during the solemn ceremony.

Alex Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, following a battle with kidney cancer. His burial rites are scheduled to continue with a wake-keep in Abia State on June 17 before his final interment on June 18.
