Headies 2026 Lands In Toronto For 18th Edition
The organisers of the Headies Awards have announced that the 18th edition of the prestigious music ceremony will take place in Toronto, Canada, marking another step in the event’s international expansion aimed at promoting Nigeria’s creative industry on the global stage.
According to reports, the announcement was made on Monday during “The Big Announcement” event held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, where entertainment stakeholders, government officials and key industry players gathered to unveil plans for the upcoming edition.
Speaking at the event, Headies founder Ayo Animashaun confirmed that while the main awards ceremony will be hosted in Toronto, Nigerian fans will remain an integral part of the celebration. He revealed that organisers are planning a special watch party and a live collaborative show connecting audiences in Toronto and Lagos to ensure the event maintains a strong presence in Nigeria.
Animashaun also addressed concerns over staging the awards outside the country once again, stressing that the decision was driven by the need to sustain and grow the platform. He noted that sponsorship remains crucial to funding the event and ensuring its continued success, adding that discontinuing the awards would not be a viable option.
Despite confirming the host city, the organisers have yet to announce the official date for the 18th edition of the Headies Awards.
