Kwara Governor Dismisses Deputy Chief Of Staff, Principal Private Secretary, Others (Full List)

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has approved the removal of his Deputy Chief of Staff, Principal Private Secretary, and several other political appointees in what the state government described as a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance. According to Ireporter Online, the decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola, confirming that the exercise also affected all Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants serving in the administration. The governor explained that the reshuffle was designed to create opportunities for more members of the ruling party to contribute to governance while injecting fresh energy into his administration. He directed all affected officials to immediately hand over government property in their possession to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government. Governor AbdulRazaq also expressed appreciation to the outgoing appointees for their commitment and contributions to the development of the state, wishing them success in their future endeavours.

Meanwhile, political tensions within the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have intensified, with ten governorship aspirants petitioning President Bola Tinubu over what they described as a worsening crisis in the party. The aspirants alleged that Governor AbdulRazaq had lost the moral and political authority to determine the APC’s direction in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections. In the petition submitted to the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, they warned that the party could face deeper internal divisions if the national leadership failed to intervene promptly. The petition was endorsed by Dr. Oluwatoyin Tajudeen Alabi, Capt. Ahmad Mahmud, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu, Dr. Azeez Salako Muideen Olaniyi, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki Gambari, Senator Saliu Mustapha, Dr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, Hon. Omar Muhammed Bio, Dele Belgore (SAN), and Senator Yahaya Ibrahim Oloriegbe. Despite their grievances, the aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to President Tinubu and expressed continued support for his administration.
