Atiku Alleges Plot To Block ADC Ahead Of 2027 Elections

According to Ireporter Online, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has alleged that elements within the ruling establishment are plotting to prevent the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from participating in the 2027 general elections.

Atiku, who is the ADC presidential candidate, raised the concern on Monday in Abuja through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, describing the alleged development as a “coordinated onslaught by anti-democratic elements within the ruling party.”

He claimed that while efforts were being made to create confusion within the opposition, the ADC remained the primary target, insisting that the party represents a strong alternative in the political space. He further questioned the ruling party’s confidence, suggesting that fear of the ADC may be driving the alleged actions.

The former Vice President also accused the ruling establishment of deploying political and legal strategies aimed at weakening opposition forces, while alleging that neutral institutions were being drawn into partisan conflicts.

He emphasized that the integrity of the ballot must be protected, warning that any attempt to manipulate the electoral process amounts to an attack on democratic principles. According to him, the desire for political change cannot be suppressed or administratively obstructed.

Atiku called on the judiciary, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, civil society groups, and the international community to remain vigilant and resist any move that could undermine the credibility of the electoral system.

He concluded by urging Nigerians not to be indifferent, stressing that democracy can only thrive when citizens remain alert and actively defend it.
