The value of the naira against the United States dollar at the parallel market, popularly known as the black market or Aboki FX, has been updated, with fresh figures indicating the latest exchange rates across major foreign exchange trading hubs.

According to Ireporter Online, information obtained from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos showed that on Thursday, July 16, 2026, the US dollar exchanged at ₦1,425 per dollar for selling and ₦1,412 per dollar for buying in the parallel market.

The report noted that the rates remain subject to fluctuations depending on location and the volume of transactions, meaning traders and customers may buy or sell foreign currency at slightly different prices.

Meanwhile, the official exchange rates published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed the dollar trading within a range of ₦1,379 to ₦1,384.

The apex bank has consistently maintained that it does not recognise the parallel market as an official channel for foreign exchange transactions. It has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to conduct such transactions through authorised financial institutions and commercial banks.

Market observers noted that exchange rates in both the official and parallel markets continue to fluctuate in response to prevailing demand and supply conditions in the country’s foreign exchange market.
