Edo North: All Set For PDP Primaries As Dr Tony Ohifeme Ezekiel Begins Consultations With Party Leaders(Photos)

This is an important step in the electoral process when party leaders and delegates owe it to the electorate to evaluate and assess contenders before the party primaries to assess their capacity to serve the party and the electorate at large.

Yesterday the leading Aspirant for Edo North Senatorial District, Dr Tony Ohifeme Ezekiel began a door to door consultations with PDP leaders and stakeholders of the district over his senatorial ambition.

It was the beginning of a tour to showcase his readiness and ability to serve the party and the people in the next general elections.

The first stop was to see Barrister Adelaja Okun, the vivacious and eloquent PDP leader in Owan West LGA, who prevented Tony Ezekiel from introducing himself because of their friendship that dates back from childhood.

After acknowledging Ezekiel’s virtues, Adelaja immediately ended the formal introduction and proceeded to his bedroom to change clothes before joining Ezekiel’s consultation train.

Dr Tony Ezekiel, now with a larger family, went to the home of Chief Solomon Amu, another PDP leader in Owan West LGA. The welcome was equally fantastic, with the party’s leader praising Tony’s capacity to serve his constituents and the party in the senatorial area. He emphasized that the time had come for the Owans or Akoko Edos to represent the noble people of Edo North in the Red Chambers.

The more the merrier, Chief Solomon Amu joined the campaign train as well for onward consultations with party leaders. After that, the one big family went to Akoko Edo to meet with other party leaders. Hon Dennis Akande, who also happens to be the secretary of the PDP in Akoko Edo, was already stationed to take the campaign team on a tour of party chieftains.

At Igarra, Tony and his team met with Mrs P.O Balogun, popularly known as Mama PDP, a highly respected woman leader and grassroots mobilizer. Of course, she hailed Tony’s entry into the senatorial race, saying that now is the time for a seasoned practitioner and businessman extraordinaire to take up the challenges and make Edo North proud.

The campaign team was welcomed with hoopla at the home of frontline aspirant for Akoko Edo House of Representatives Hon Oladele Bankole Balogun, who treated Tony Ezekiel and his crew to a wonderful lunch of Pounded and varied delicacies. They were a beautiful pair to behold.

Moving forward, Tony Ezekiel went to seek the prayers and blessings of Pa J.A Emasalo, former Akoko Edo LGA Chairman and PDP leader. It was a very emotional moment as the old political veteran spoke passionately about the need for the Etsako’s to give the position to the Owans or Akoko Edo’s in order to have a sense of togetherness. He stated and requested that Owan West be offered a senate seat in the upcoming general elections.

Pa Emasalo was overjoyed and wished Tony Ezekiel well on his quest, saying it was his time, and he prayed for him and blessed his goals.

After visiting Pa Emasalo, the campaign train went to the home of Hon Ehihi Stephen Ojo, a PDP strongman in Akoko Edo. Tony Ezekiel and his crew were given the same level of assurance and quality reception.

The consultations continued with a visit to Senator Yisa Braimoh, here it was a family reunion as Distinguished Senator Yisa Braimoh was very emotional and also made the appeal for the Etsako’s to please give the Owan people a chance this time around. The discussions was fruitful.

” You have influence, you have connections, you have the resources ….you would make us proud, the senate is not for people who want to achieve, it is for people who have achieved, my prayers would go with you, it is signed sealed and delivered.”

Finally, late into the night, the campaign team visited Sir Patrick Ahonkhai Giwa, the former Clerk of the House of Representatives, who is running for a seat in the House of Representatives. The team ultimately had their supper at his house, which was nothing short of a family reunion.
