PDP Campaign DG Attacked, Ikpeazu Reacts

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has promised to bring to justice a DSS operative who allegedly attacked and attempted to kill the Director General of the Abia State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Chinedum Elechi, in Umuahia.

Dr. Ikpeazu addressed reporters after visiting the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia, where Elechi is being treated, and thanked God for sparing the former Abia Deputy Speaker’s life despite the severity of his injuries in the attack.

He said it was unfortunate that someone whose job it was to protect could use a machete to slash the head and skin of another human being, as well as destroy his car, for no reason.

The governor stated that the assailant and people of such character would not be allowed to remain in the company of rational people.

Ikpeazu, who thanked the management and staff of the Federal Government facility on the ground for providing medical care to the former lawmaker, expressed relief that the victim was in a stable condition and hoped that he would recover quickly.

Elechi thanked God and those who helped save his life.

He thanked Governor Ikpeazu for coming to identify with him and the FMC management for their help in saving his life.

The FMC’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Azubuike Onyebuchi, who was on the ground during the governor’s visit, informed him that surgery on the victim had been successful.
