2023 Elections: NLC Directs Workers On Presidential Candidate To Vote

In accordance with an earlier resolution of its National Executive Council, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership has directed all workers to work for the success of the Labour Party in the general election.

This was stated in a statement signed by Comrade Chris Uyot, National Secretary of the NLC National Political Commission, on February 21st, 2023.

As a result, the NLC directed all of its political committee members in the states to step up their efforts to mobilize workers and Nigerians at the local, ward, and polling units to vote for the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, and all Labour Party candidates contesting the elections.

It also charged the political committees with working with its allies in civil society organizations and students to take all necessary steps to protect the people’s votes by ensuring a transparent, free, and fair electoral process.

To accomplish these tasks, the NLC stated that all affiliate unions and State Councils of Congress must provide maximum cooperation and support to political committees in order to strengthen their work at the state, local government, ward, and polling unit levels by providing at least 10 ward coordinators and canvassers to not only mobilize but also defend the people’s votes.
