8-Month Pregnant Abuja Woman Gang-Raped

An area court in Gwagwalada, FCT, ordered on Tuesday that two cattle herders who pleaded guilty to kidnapping and raping a woman be remanded in a correctional facility until their sentencing on March 22.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Dabo Yakubu, told the court that on February 25, the defendants, Nuru Tukur (21) and Yusufa Haruna (29), abducted an eight-month pregnant woman from her home in Abaji Area Council of the FCT, took her to a bush, and raped her.

He stated that on February 26, one Abubakar Wakili of Yaba in Abaji Area Council reported the matter to the Gwagwalada Area Command office.

Yakubu stated that on February 25, the convicts abducted the victim from her home in Abaji Area Council and took her to a bush where they both raped her despite the fact that she was eight months pregnant.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 96, 262, 264, 387 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, deferred sentencing in order for him to see and know the condition of the victim.
