Activist Exposes Alleged Police Misconduct In Death Of Unconvicted Graduate

Naija News previously reported that Rebecca Emeya, the mother of the deceased, alleged during an interview on the Berekete Family show that her son was tortured and killed at the Nyanya Police Station in Abuja.

However, in a statement released on X, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi denied these allegations, asserting that Erasmus was arrested for cultism and rape, and that an autopsy revealed he died of asphyxiation.

Adejobi noted that the autopsy was conducted in the presence of doctors from the deceased’s family.

Reacting to Adejobi’s statement, Gwamnishu took to social media to challenge the police narrative, highlighting that Erasmus had not been convicted of any crime and questioning the thoroughness of the police investigation.

He wrote: “Sir, with due respect @adejobimuyiwa, why do you Police Image Makers always report what you were told without investigation? How can a suspect die of asphyxiation? That’s suffocation. Did you visit the scene to see where he supposedly died of asphyxiation? Autopsy result is what you are quoting while tagging the young man a cultist, even though he was never convicted and cannot defend himself now.”

Gwamnishu continued, “DO YOU KNOW WHAT SACK K!LLING IS? OR SHOULD I EXPLAIN MORE? Did you investigate his accusers? Did you visit the community where he was alleged to have committed crimes?

“SOME OF US HAVE SPENT YEARS IN SOLITARY CELLS AND NEVER DIED OF SUFFOCATION. What kind of cell was the young man locked up in? Does it mean the mother is lying about what she saw? @adejobimuyiwa, you are too decent and well-educated to rush to the media without having all the facts. PLEASE GET A TEAM OF PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS to assist the Force in unraveling the true situation before updating the media.”
