ADC: Dele Momodu Urges Rotimi Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen To ‘Cool Tempers’ Over Rigging Allegations

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and veteran journalist, Dele Momodu, has defended the conduct of the party’s presidential primary election, insisting that the process was fair and transparent amid emerging allegations of irregularities.

According to Ireporter Online, Momodu called on aggrieved aspirants, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, to exercise restraint and allow the electoral process to reach full conclusion before raising objections.

His remarks come amid reports indicating that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is leading the race, having reportedly secured victories in over 20 states during the primary exercise. However, the outcome has been disputed by Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen, who have raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the process.

Momodu expressed surprise at the early rejection of the exercise by some contestants, noting that the collation and declaration of results were still ongoing at the time the complaints emerged. He maintained that available results so far reflected a fair pattern and urged stakeholders to remain patient.

He further appealed for calm among party members, stressing the importance of unity within the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections. Momodu warned that internal disagreements could undermine the party’s chances of effectively challenging President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He emphasized that if party members were truly committed to national interest and electoral victory, they should avoid internal disputes that could weaken their collective strength.

Momodu also highlighted Atiku Abubakar’s political experience and extensive nationwide network, describing him as a strong contender with long-standing influence in Nigerian politics, noting that such reach would be difficult for new entrants to match.
