Speaking at the 10th convocation ceremony of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Abuja, she highlighted AI’s transformative impact, projecting a global economic boost of $15.7 trillion by 2030.

Okonjo-Iweala urged African countries to harness AI’s potential by investing in infrastructure, digital literacy, and youth upskilling. She noted Nigeria’s leading role, with the country poised to capture 43% of the projected gains among four African countries. However, challenges like unreliable internet, electricity supply, and the digital divide could hinder progress, necessitating proactive strategies and decentralized renewable energy solutions to bridge the gaps.
