The renewed buzz surrounding Thiago’s name in Barcelona followed reports that he was preparing to rejoin the club, particularly to support new manager Hansi Flick and his technical staff. Notably, Thiago played an informal role during Flick’s early days at the helm last summer, reportedly aiding the German tactician’s adaptation to his new environment.

However, according to iReporter Online, a fresh update from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reveals that the club has opted against bringing Thiago back—at least for now. The 34-year-old former La Masia product is said to be open to continuing his relationship with Barça, but only on a part-time basis, avoiding full involvement in training sessions and travel throughout the season.

This arrangement, however, does not align with the current strategic direction of the club. Furthermore, Hansi Flick is not believed to have formally requested the return of the ex-midfielder, according to iReporter Online, further weakening the chances of a deal materializing.
