Basic Feeding Now A Luxury” – Ruth Kadiri Laments Soaring Cost Of Living
According to Ireporter Online, popular Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has expressed deep concern over the worsening cost of living in Nigeria, lamenting that many households are now finding it increasingly difficult to afford basic meals as food prices continue to surge across the country.
The actress shared her frustration in a video posted on her Instagram page on Wednesday, where she highlighted the economic strain currently facing Nigerians. She noted that the rising cost of essential food items has placed a significant burden on families and is beginning to affect people’s emotional and psychological well-being.
Kadiri explained that although she is not known for complaining publicly, recent developments in the economy have left her deeply troubled. She stressed that if individuals who are relatively comfortable financially are already feeling the pressure, then the situation for low-income earners and those living on modest wages could be far more severe.
She pointed specifically to the skyrocketing prices of basic food items such as tomatoes and peppers, describing how a small amount that once cost far less now requires thousands of naira. According to her, such increases have made everyday feeding—a basic necessity—alarmingly expensive for the average Nigerian household.
She added that the current economic reality is becoming increasingly difficult to cope with, as even fundamental survival needs are now placing heavy strain on citizens.
