Bolanle Raheem: Buhari Makes Vow As He Reacts To Killing Of Lagos Lawyer

President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the “heinous and senseless” shooting of Omobolanle Raheem, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), on Christmas Day by a police officer.

Buhari promised that justice would be served.

The President was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the killing, according to his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He ordered police to take “the strongest possible action” against the suspects who were already detained.

President Buhari stated that the incident is a stark reminder of the recurring threat of weapon mishandling and a wake-up call to law enforcement agencies, including the Police, to ensure the full implementation of the administration’s reforms on the subject of weapon handling as well as the protection of citizens’ rights.

Buhari said, “In this hour of grief, the nation stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and the NBA.

“I assure that justice will be done in this case.”
