BREAKING: 3 Days To Election, Powerful Politician Arrested, Remanded In Prison Over Inciting Comments (PHOTO)

Hon Ephraim Nwuzi, the lawmaker representing Etche/Omuma federal constituency in the House of Representatives, has been remanded to the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Port Harcourt by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in the Rivers State capital.

The Rivers State Police Command had filed a remand proceeding against him.

The federal lawmaker, who is also the All Progressives Congress candidate for Etche-Omuma Federal Constituency in the February 25, 2023 election, was charged with treasonable felony, conspiracy, inciting communal crisis, and inciting violence by the police.

Following the nature of the case, Emenike Ebete, counsel to the accused, made an oral bail application when the matter was mentioned in Court on Wednesday.

The prosecution and the Investigation Police Officers in charge of the case, however, opposed the bail application, requesting that Hon Nwuzi be remanded to allow for proper investigation and arraignment.

After hearing the arguments, Chief Magistrate O Amadi-Nna remanded Ephraim Nwuzi on the basis of the allegations.
