BREAKING: FG Inaugurates Freight Services On Apapa-Ibadan Cargo Rail (DETAILS)

During his inaugural visit to the Lagos-Ibadan rail corridor, the Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, oversaw the commencement of the first cargo movement.

The tour began at the Ebute Meta station, followed by the launch at Apapa, and concluded with travel to Ibadan via the 157 km rail corridor.

The inaugural freight movement included three coaches consisting of 30 wagons.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announced plans to initiate three coaches per day, with the Managing Director stating that the corporation had the capability to increase the numbers.

This initiative aims to alleviate congestion at the Apapa port, which handled 92.28 percent of Nigeria’s total exports and 60.77 percent of imports in the first quarter of 2022 (Q1’22).
