PUNCH Online confirmed on Monday that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) implemented the new pricing across its retail outlets in the capital, much to the satisfaction of consumers. This marks the second price decrease in less than two weeks, dropping from N1,060 earlier this month.

At NNPCL’s mega station situated along Wuse Zone 4 and Olusegun Obasanjo Way in the Central Area, petrol was selling for N965 per litre, leading to long queues of eager motorists.

One driver who noted the price drop praised NNPCL but urged for price consistency across all fuel stations for easier access. “Yes, NNPC has reduced its price to N965. I bought it this morning, but the queue is too long. Perhaps it’s due to other stations charging different prices,” he stated.

In contrast, independent and major fuel marketers were still offering petrol at prices ranging from N1,030 to N1,070 at various locations visited by our correspondent.

Additionally, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) announced that from today, petrol will be priced at N935 per litre, following a recent agreement with the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. IPMAN’s National President, Maigandi Garima, noted that the refinery’s decreased ex-depot price and a uniform pricing structure would allow marketers to sell at N935 nationwide, factoring in a N36 logistics cost.
