Echoes Of Inaction: Nwuche Unveils The Silent History Of Ekpeye
Chibudom Nwuche, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has commended the significant strides made by the administration of Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. praised Wike’s tenure for ushering in unprecedented development and empowerment to Ekpeye kingdom, which includes Ahoada East and Ahoada West local government areas.
Speaking at a special appreciation event in Ochigba, Ahoada East, Nwuche highlighted the transformational impact of Wike’s leadership. He pointed out that prior to Wike’s time, past governors such as Chief Rufus Ada-George, Peter Odili, and Chibuike Amaechi had failed to bring any notable development to Ekpeyeland. “We had these governors, but none of them left any legacy—no infrastructure, no roads, no water projects, nothing at all,” Nwuche remarked.
In stark contrast, Nwuche credited Wike for initiating over 18 key projects in the region, including the construction of the Rivers State University campus in Ahoada and the Ahoada-Omoku road, developed by Julius Berger. He even acknowledged that Wike continued projects left unfinished by the previous administration, including the completion of the Ochigba road, initially abandoned during Amaechi’s term.
“I’m 100% behind Wike because while others used their power to marginalize Rivers people, Wike empowered the masses and never abandoned projects due to political differences,” Nwuche affirmed.
The former Deputy Speaker also took a moment to commend Wike’s forgiveness and unity-building approach, noting that many individuals who once opposed him in the APC have now joined his camp, thanks to his magnanimity. He urged party leaders to ensure that local party structures function effectively to give the people a sense of belonging, adding, “The APC has now joined forces with us. This shows a true understanding.”
As the appreciation party concluded, Nwuche emphasized the importance of inclusivity and collaboration for the overall betterment of the state and its people.
