On the night of February 1, 2024, a loud explosion echoed around the electric high-tension transmission line, prompting the Chief Security Officer of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi to report the incident to the police. Swiftly, a team of police operatives, including specialized personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Chemicals Biological Radioactive and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit, was dispatched to the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that economic vandals had employed explosives, leading to the collapse and damage of a high-tension pole. The area was immediately cordoned off, and a thorough sweep by EOD-CBRN operatives resulted in the recovery of remnant components of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
