Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s political strength, asserting that the President would defeat leading opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, regardless of how many times an election is conducted.

Speaking during an interview on a television programme, Fayose reacted to growing calls from some Nigerians for Tinubu to step down amid concerns over the country’s security challenges.

According to reports, the former governor argued that many of those demanding the President’s resignation are supporters of opposition candidates and are motivated by political interests rather than national concerns.

Fayose maintained that Tinubu still has time remaining in his current term and should be allowed to continue governing without distractions from political opponents.

He noted that supporters of various opposition figures are actively campaigning against the administration, but insisted that the President remains a formidable political force capable of overcoming any challenge at the polls.

The former governor further stated that even if presidential elections were conducted repeatedly, Tinubu would continue to emerge victorious against his rivals. He attributed the President’s resilience to his political experience and determination, recalling that Tinubu secured the presidency despite not enjoying the backing of his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fayose argued that a politician who successfully navigated such obstacles to attain the nation’s highest office would not easily relinquish power to opposition forces, emphasizing his belief that Tinubu remains firmly positioned within Nigeria’s political landscape.
