FG Releases Full List Of Approved Universities In Togo And Benin Republic

The Federal Government has officially recognized eight universities in Togo and Benin Republic that are accredited to award degrees to Nigerian students. This announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, during an interview on Channels Television’s *Sunday Politics* program.

Mamman revealed that the government had discovered over 22,500 Nigerians holding fake degree certificates from various institutions in these countries, leading to the decision to recognize only a select few universities. This measure is part of the government’s broader effort to combat degree certificate racketeering, which has tarnished the country’s reputation.

Recognized Universities in Benin Republic:
1. Universite D’abomey-Calavi

Mamman emphasized that the government will invalidate the approximately 22,700 certificates issued by unaccredited institutions. The Minister also noted that these actions are essential to maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s education system.
