How Inspector Rejected Bribe From Suspect Carrying Heavy Bundles Of Stripped Armoured Cable To Get Reward Of N250,000 (PHOTOS)
Inspector Charity Oyor, a dedicated policewoman serving at the Main Market Division in Onitsha, Anambra, has been rewarded with a cash prize of N250,000 by the Anambra Police Commissioner, Aderemi Adeoye.
The commendable act that led to this recognition was her refusal to accept a bribe from a suspect.
The spokesperson for the Anambra Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated in a Friday press release that Inspector Charity had intercepted a suspect transporting six bundles of stripped armoured cable, suspected to be stolen.
When the suspect attempted to bribe her, she declined the offer. Instead, she immediately informed her Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Superintendent Joy Chidinma Ikpeama.
In response, the DPO led a team of police personnel to the scene and arrested the suspect. The confiscated cable was taken to the police station for further investigation. Despite further bribery attempts by the suspect, including an offer of N500,000 to secure his release, the officers remained steadfast in upholding the law.
The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Awka. During the presentation of the cash reward, Commissioner Adeoye praised Inspector Charity for her integrity and urged all members of the police force to uphold the ethical standards of their profession and resist compromise while discharging their duties.
Inspector Charity expressed her commitment to her job and expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s generosity. DPO Ikpeama also commended the Commissioner for setting a positive example of leadership, which inspired her team to perform their duties with dedication.
