IGP Egbetokun Approves Massive Posting Of Senior Police Officers Nationwide

According to Ireporter Online, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the immediate posting and redeployment of a large number of senior police officers across the country in a move described as one of the most extensive reshuffles in recent times.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed that the redeployment affects dozens of Assistant Commissioners of Police and two Superintendents of Police, with the new postings scheduled to take effect from January 1, 2026.

Information obtained from a police wireless signal issued by the Force Security Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja revealed that the exercise spans state commands, area commands, divisions, as well as tactical and specialised formations nationwide.

Under the directive, several senior officers have been reassigned to critical units such as the Mobile Police Force, Interpol, Anti-Human Trafficking, Marine Operations, Disaster Management, Intelligence, Finance and Accounts, and other strategic departments at the Force Headquarters.

Additional postings cover operations, research and development, the X-Squad, Airport and Railway Commands, education and training institutions, and specialised tactical units including the Bomb Disposal Unit, K-9 Unit and Mounted Police.

The redeployment also introduces new Commanding Officers to a number of Mobile Police Squadrons considered vital to internal security operations. Officers appointed to head these formations include ACP Kabiru Adeshina Akinroye at MOPOL 17 Akure, ACP Emmanuel Olusola Oyewole at MOPOL 33 Ado Ekiti, ACP Ogungbe Mi Igbekele at MOPOL 12 Minna, ACP Stephen Olusola Olatise at MOPOL 4 Ibadan, ACP Nnaji Agha Chima at MOPOL 26 Uyo, ACP Atanda Olubunmi Otitoola at MOPOL 59 Bajoga, ACP Alkali Lamido at MOPOL 58 Lafia, ACP Awoyale Olufemi Olayinka at MOPOL 16 Abeokuta and ACP Obideyi Olusoji Abraham at MOPOL 13 Makurdi.

Several officers were also deployed to specialised administrative and investigative roles at the Force Headquarters and other key formations. Among them are ACP Haruna Shehu Shagari to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at the FCID Annex in Kaduna, ACP Ahahnana Gabriel Onuh to Interpol Abuja, ACP Ogaarashi Chima to Marine Operations at Force Headquarters, ACP Ejiofor Grace Obiageli to the Disaster Management Unit, and ACP Umar Bashir Mohammed to Research and Development.

The reshuffle further addressed critical vacancies at Area Commands across multiple states. Senior officers have been appointed to oversee strategic areas in Borno, Edo, Kwara, Oyo, Osun, Abia, Cross River, Ebonyi, Kano, Katsina, Ondo, Gombe, Kogi and other parts of the federation.

In addition, several Assistant Commissioners were redeployed to state commands, zonal formations and specialised departments as Assistant Commissioners of Operations, Criminal Investigation Departments, Administration, X-Squad, Finance and Accounts, Training, and Professional Studies across various police zones.

The nationwide redeployment is widely viewed as part of ongoing efforts by the police leadership to strengthen command efficiency, enhance operational effectiveness and reposition the Force ahead of emerging security challenges in the new year.
